Hugs from “From Broadway with Love”

On Monday night, I had the privilege of working on “From Broadway with Love: A Benefit for Sandy Hook”. From Broadway with Love featured Broadway, Film, & TV stars performing in a one-night-only event at The Palace Theatre to benefit Sandy Hook Elementary School and Newtown, CT. The purpose of this benefit was to show this incredibly strong town that we are there for them, we love them, and we support them as they begin to heal from the tragedy on 12/14. Hundreds of people came together to make this event a possibility and hugs were everywhere! One of my favorite moments happened during rehearsal, when five little girls from “Dance, Etc.” in Newtown hugged Hairspray’s Nikki Blonsky at the end of the song. It was a beautiful moment that showed the power of a hug and the ability we all have to make another person smile.

After uploading the photos, I realized I took exactly 26 hug photos on Monday night. I can’t help but think this is nothing but a coincidence on an evening dedicated to honoring the lives of 26 people. I hope this blog will inspire 26 more hugs that will inspire 26 more smiles that will eventually inspire millions of hugs and smiles.

Thank you everyone for sharing your hugs with me! Special thanks to Michael Moritz & Becky Fischer for taking all these hugs photos for One Hug a Day!

Hugs,
